I am currently finishing Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity, and it has over 400 pages, which could be summarized as
- Exercise and move so that you are in the top performance percentiles of your age group
- Sleep well, at least 7 hours a night of a quality sleep
- Be kind to yourself and others and address emotional issues you might have from childhood and the past
- Eat protein, avoid processed food and do not overeat
- Do not drink alcohol excessively (ideally not at all) and avoid toxins like smoking
So what is the 400 pages for? Stories. Almost no one will listen to a good advice, when it is presented as a list of suggestions. Even if they are true, clear and easy.
Give people stories with which they can identify, and it becomes something to talk about and buy.
