I have never realized how dominant Elvis was, until I have checked Best-selling albums of 1950’s. Just check how many albums he has in the top 50.
No other interpret or band can compare. The only that are somewhat comparable are The Beatles in the 60s.
You probably cannot even copy this dominance nowadays anymore.
That’s probably why almost everyone knows Elvis and The Beatles, and will in 30 years, but almost no one will remember any of today’s top charts interprets.
